Gasfitters are reminded that they must comply with the requirements of AS/NZS 5601.1:2022 Gas Installations - Part 1: General installations from 30 March 2023.
On 30 September 2022, Standards Australia published the 2022 edition of AS/NZS 5601.1, replacing the 2013 edition.
The Victorian Building Authority (VBA) and Energy Safe Victoria (ESV) released a Standards Alert (PDF, 224.08 KB) and provided gasfitters with a six-month transition period, so they could familiarise themselves with the changes.
The transition period ends on 29 March 2023. From 30 March 2023, gasfitters will be required to comply with the 2022 standard.
The VBA develops guidance material to better enable practitioners to navigate change in the plumbing regulations.
