GBK held its Annual General Meeting and quarterly board meeting on Badu Island from 30 September 2026 to 2 October 2026, where Executive Directors were elected to represent its Nation Groups.

One Executive Director is elected to represent each Nation Group. The Executive Directors elected were:

  • Mr Keith Pabai - Guda Malulgal Nation
  • Mr Iona Manas - Maluilgal Nation
  • Mr Lui Ned David - Kulkalgal Nation
  • Mr Falen Doug Passi - Kemer Kemer Meriam Nation

The position representing the Kaiwalagal Kaurareg Aboriginal Nation remains vacant and will be filled at a later date.

From among the Executive Directors, Mr Lui Ned David was returned as Executive Chair and Mr Falen Doug Passi as Deputy Chair.

Mr David thanked GBK's Directors for their ongoing support and confidence in his leadership.

"I am grateful for the trust our Directors continue to place in me. It is a privilege to continue serving as Executive Chair and to work alongside our Directors on behalf of our people," Mr David said.

Mr David said 2027 would be a formative year for GBK, with the development of its next five-year strategic plan helping to guide the organisation's future direction.

"Our next strategic plan will set the direction for GBK over the coming five years. We want it to reflect the priorities of our members and give us a clear focus for the work ahead," he said.

GBK extends its appreciation to Mura Badulgal PBC and the Badu community for hosting the AGM and board meeting and to all members, Directors, and staff for their participation.
