Geelong Electric Homes Wins Top National Energy Award

The City of Greater Geelong is proud to announce that the Geelong Electric Homes Program has received national recognition, winning the 'Leading Energy Management Project: Residential' category at the Energy Efficiency Council Gala Awards.

Funded through the City's Climate Change Partnership Grants and delivered by Geelong Sustainability, the Electric Homes Program supports residents to transition to all-electric, energy-efficient homes powered by renewable energy.

The win highlights the program's impact in reducing household energy bills, improving thermal comfort, and helping the community take meaningful steps towards sustainability.

Now in its third year, the program provides residents with expert advice and practical support through in-person forums, webinars and masterclasses.

It reduces carbon emissions and simultaneously boosts the Geelong economy, generating close to $2 million in renewable energy investment.

The program also connects households to trusted local suppliers and reduces costs through bulk-buy offers on heat pumps, insulation, solar systems, batteries, and induction appliances.

With hundreds of local households already participating, the program has grown into a model of community-led energy transition.

Participating households will save $220,000 annually, with total savings reaching $5.3 million over the lifetime of the installed products.
