Georges River Council Invites Community To Embrace Mental Health Month

Georges River Council

Georges River Council is proud to support NSW Mental Health Month 2025 with a diverse program of events designed to promote mindfulness, connection and self-care.

Held throughout October, Mental Health Month encourages individuals of all ages and backgrounds to take proactive steps toward improving their mental wellbeing. From yoga and creative workshops to community art projects and curated reading lists, Council's programs offer something for everyone.

Georges River Council Mayor Elise Borg said, "Mental Health Month is a time to reflect on the importance of wellbeing in our daily lives.

"The programs we're offering this October are designed to inspire, connect, and support our community. Whether it's through creative expression, movement, or simply taking a mindful moment, these activities remind us that mental health matters every day.

"I encourage everyone to explore what's on and take part in building a more compassionate and resilient Georges River."

Program highlights include:

  • Self-Care Bingo and Books – Visit any Georges River Library branch to collect a self-care bingo card and browse a display of recommended reads. The bingo card features 25 prompts to help practice mindful activities and support wellbeing.

  • Collaborative Community Colouring Quilt – Contribute to a community artwork by colouring a quilt square at your local library, museum, or customer service centre. The final quilt will be displayed at Clive James Library in January 2026.

  • Mindful Movement Yoga – Gentle yoga sessions with sound therapy, tailored for all ages and abilities, held at Clive James Library, Kogarah.

  • Self-Care Rocks! Collage Cabochon Magnets Workshop – A creative workshop for adults to make meaningful mini collage magnets that reflect personal self-care intentions.
