Council is seeking four community members to join the Floodplain Risk Management Committee as a community representative. As a member of the Committee, you will have the opportunity to review and provide input on flood studies and management plans, represent community perspectives in flood management discussions, and help share information about flood preparedness with the wider community.
The Floodplain Risk Management Committee plays an important role in reviewing and developing strategies to minimise the impact of flooding on our community, considering factors such as flood behaviour, warning systems, evacuation routes, and development controls in flood-prone areas.
Council is also inviting our community to review the Draft Floodplain Risk Management Committee Terms of Reference and provide feedback during the public exhibition period.
Georges River Council Mayor Elise Borg said, "Our community is strongest when every voice is heard. Participation isn't just welcomed—it's essential to shaping a future that reflects who we are and what we value."
Consultation on the Draft Terms of Reference and applications for the Expression of interest will be open until 27 June 2025.
