Geraldine Hickey's Local Take on Albury Wodonga

Visit Albury Wodonga

Award-winning Australian comedian, Geraldine Hickey, is taking a break from the stage to try her hand at a new line of work: Tour Operator in Albury Wodonga.

Knowing that the best way to understand a region is to talk to a local, Geraldine has launched Geraldine's Hometown Tours and is ready to show visitors everything that Albury Wodonga has to offer (even if they were slightly kidnapped).

And who better to lead a tour of Albury Wodonga than 'Gez'? Geraldine grew up in Albury and has a lot in common with the region: both are authentic, down-to-earth and always up for some fun.

"I grew up in Albury and just love coming back to visit friends and family," says Geraldine.

"There's so much on offer: natural beauty, great bars and restaurants, and there's a sense of calm here that lets me take a break from the pace of everyday life."

During the tour with two unsuspecting visitors, Geraldine showcases some of the region's standout destinations.

Starting at Junction Place, the day unfolds with a paddle on the Murray River before following the Yindyamarra Sculpture Walk, where culture, art and Country come together. A stop at Wonga Wetlands offers a chance to slow down among the region's rich bird life and natural beauty, before the energy picks up at Albury's renowned skate park, a special stop given Geraldine's sister helped design it. The experience finishes riverside at Gateway Island, sharing good food, local flavours and stories from a day spent exploring the best of Albury Wodonga.
