The Federal Republic of Germany, a State Party to the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court (ICC) since 2000, has made a voluntary contribution of EUR 40,000 to the Trust Fund for Victims (TFV), reaffirming its commitment to international justice and the rights of victims of crimes under the Rome Statute. Germany's voluntary contribution is earmarked for the implementation of Court-ordered reparations.
H.E. Kevin Kelly, Member of the Board of Directors of the TFV stated, "Germany has long been a bastion of support for the International Criminal Court as a whole, and its regular contributions to the Trust Fund for Victims are illustrative of its commitment to victim-centred justice. Such unfaltering support is to be commended."
H.E. Nikolaus Meyer-Landrut, Ambassador of Germany to the Kingdom of The Netherlands stated, "The Trust Fund for Victims contributes to realizing the pillars of reparative justice of the Rome Statute through measures that recognize and redress the harm caused on victims and their families, by crimes under the jurisdiction of the International Criminal Court, namely, genocide, crimes against humanity, war crimes and crimes of aggression. Germany has been a solid supporter of the International Criminal Court from its inception. We have been and we continue to be a major contributor financially, both to the general budget as well as to the Trust Fund for Victims and its important work."
Germany has been providing regular support to the TFV through voluntary contributions since 2006 and is the 5th largest donor to the Trust Fund, having donated over EUR 4.4 million in voluntary contributions to date.
