Girl charged after assault at Geelong waterfront

Geelong Crime Investigation Unit detectives have charged a 17-year-old girl after a girl was seriously assaulted in Geelong on Saturday 23 October.

Police have been told a number of girls approached a 15-year-old girl near the waterfront sometime between 7.30pm and 8pm.

It is alleged they made demands for her mobile phone before seriously assaulting her.

The offenders stole her phone and the victim was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

A Grovedale girl has been charged with robbery and assault and will appear at a children's court at a later date.

The investigation remains ongoing.
