A new bike jump track has been completed beside Morgan John Morgan Park in Glen Forrest with the support of an $86,950 WA Government grant through the Community Sport and Recreation Facilities Fund (CSRFF).
Delivered in partnership with the Shire of Mundaring, the jump track is part of the PlayOn WA initiative, which is delivering 2,030 community sport and recreation infrastructure items across Western Australia by 2030.
Designed following community consultation with local riders and residents, the track provides a fast, flowing and technically challenging experience catering to confident riders with a focus on safety and progression.
The new track will officially open on Saturday, 21 February with a community launch event from 5pm to 7pm, featuring local rider demonstrations, a ribbon-cutting ceremony, food and music.
The investment into the new bike jump track is part of the Cook Government's commitment to delivering the infrastructure and services Western Australians need no matter where they live.
As stated by Sport and Recreation Minister Rita Saffioti:
"The new Glen Forrest jump track provides an exciting facility that encourages outdoor activity, skill development and a place for social connection.
"Our government is delivering record investment in local sporting infrastructure to ensure Western Australians have access to high-quality spaces to keep kids active, bring people together and make our suburbs even better places to live.
"Through PlayOn WA, we're rolling out 2,030 community sporting infrastructure projects by 2030, ensuring communities right across Western Australia have access to modern, high-quality facilities that support healthy, active lifestyles for generations to come."
As stated by Klasey Hirst MLC:
"The new jump track is a fantastic addition for the local Glen Forrest community - giving young people and families a fun, active space to build their skills, get outdoors and connect with friends.
"Our government wants to ensure that no matter where you live, whether it's in the city, in the hills or in the regions, families have access to quality infrastructure and services."
