Minister for Small Business, Trade and Consumer Affairs, Guy Barnett, who was the key note speaker at the conference today, said it was wonderful to have the event return to Tasmania for the third time.
"Family run small businesses are the heart of regional communities. They are an important part of the local network, and they are a place for people to connect," Minister Barnett said.
"Having strong family values is the most significant success factor for many small family run businesses.
"Family small and medium businesses are critical to Tasmania and Australia. That's why it is so concerning to see recent federal government policies dramatically increasing taxes on Tasmanians who start small businesses."
Through keynote speeches, workshops and masterclasses, delegates from across Australia and overseas had the opportunity to hear from local and global experts, each offering practical insights, new ideas and actionable tips.
"This event represents an important opportunity for industry representatives to gather and discuss matters central to family run businesses," Minister Barnett said.
"In Tasmania, 97 per cent of businesses are small businesses and they have the highest survival rate compared to the rest of Australia.
"The Tasmanian Government continues to back and proudly support the small business sector through several ongoing initiatives, including the Business Tasmania Service and free statewide independent business advisory services."
