GLUTTONY LAUNCHES A FRINGE SPECTACULAR

– November 29 2018

Just when one thought Adelaide's Gluttony had reached capacity, the Fringe hub has grown again! Following the huge success of the Adelaide owned and operated Fringe park space in 2018, 2019 will showcase Gluttony's biggest entertainment program yet.

Gluttony celebrates its ninth Fringe in 2019 and boasts 160 shows that span the genres of cabaret, theatre, circus, magic, comedy, dance, music, spoken word and children's entertainment.

Gluttony's Daniel Michael said: "All our artists are excited about the program launch today.

"To accommodate the increase in shows we have expanded to a second site, Masonic Lodge on North Terrace.

"It's only 550 meters away from Gluttony and we'll have three different performance spaces as well as a bar."

A couple of other firsts for Gluttony include the fact the venue will be cashless, this means faster and more efficient service for Gluttony goers.

"Despite our growth we want to maintain an intimate atmosphere for punters and artists alike. In a nutshell, Gluttony is full of beautiful tent venues that have world class performers, cool bars, awesome food vendors, and a relaxed space for sitting and having a glass of wine before and after a show.

Mr Michael said: "We have also expanded our food and beverage offering with the introduction of the East and West Markets and new themed bars.

The West Market is a multicultural food court, including Filipino, Italian, Greek and Indian cuisines.

East Market, a new space, will serve up a foodie experience, from gourmet festival snacks to multi-course dinners (eastern end, close to the Adelaide Bowling Club).

There will be no shortage of bars either with Coopers Bar (beers), Sake Bar (sake and Sapporo beer), The Local Bar (all-South Australian selection of beers, wine and spirits), cocktail bar and various wine bars all stocked to keep punters hydrated.

"Gluttony has curated a program that showcases the best local, national and international talent and the line-up is stellar…. even if we do say so ourselves.

"This year we've travelled all around the world to bring Adelaide some of the best talent.

"We will host a bigger and broader range of performances to lift the Fringe to greater heights.

"We are delighted to be host to three of South Australia's home-grown stars: Fringe ambassador and America's Got Talent star, Hans, triple threat Hugh Sheridan and his California Crooners, as well as popular journalist and TV personality, Annabel Crabb, to name but three."

A snippet into some of Gluttony's other top shows include a brand-new glam rock circus spectacular called Rebel, inspired by David Bowie, and one of the Fringe's biggest selling shows, Rouge, is back.

Other shows tipped to be popular include Circus Abyssinia, Finale, Shake It, Little Death Club, Choir of Man, 360 All-Stars, Amity Dry, By a Thread, Railed and Circus'cision from the creators of the hugely successful show Elixir.

The Moa tent is a new addition to Gluttony, the biggest venue yet and can hold up to 600 people.

Another new tent to the venue is Ukiyo, which will feature Chasing Smoke. This is an all indigenous circus production, created by Circus Oz and Casus.

Mr Michael said: "Finale, featured in the Peacock tent, is one of my must-see shows this season. It is a German circus show, performing tricks in ways Adelaide audiences have never seen before".

For the laughs, there will be a case of classy comedy in the Piglet tent with a new act called Silence of the Labia, which involves a woman with shaving cream and setting fire to herself. Also, Thrones – A Musical Parody will have you in fits of laughter.

Mr Michael said: "Also not to be missed is After Hours Cabaret Club. This was a sell out in Edinburgh, full of sass and charm. It oozes sophistication and is unpredictable with its array of burlesque, cabaret, sideshow and circus performances."

And, as always, it will be jam-packed with local Adelaide talent including Isaac Lomman, Matt Tarrant, Anya Anastasia, Amity Dry and Gospo Collective.

Gluttony will be a 'go to' for families and children with an extensive family program. Top returning shows include Dinosaur Time Machine and Best of Kids Fringe. New performances to take the whole family to is Le Petit Circus with an original show, Escape from Trash Mountain, Enchantments, and Inside the Walls, a giant pop-up ghost story. There are also some fabulous activations, including a Nerf Gun Arena.

Mr Michael said: "We have a strong focus on working with our artists to get the best results we can for them.

"We are interested in long-term, collaborative and healthy relationships with producers and artists so that we can continue to grow great results together for years to come, and we always invest back into the hub."
