- Western Australian foster and grand carers registered for the Cook Labor Government's Gold Card have commenced receiving their Energy Bill Relief Payment

The Cook Labor Government is encouraging all eligible foster families and grand carers to register for the Foster and Grand Carer Gold Card as the first round of Energy Bill Relief Payments land this week.
The Gold Card provides families caring for children in need with a range of discounts and benefits to assist with general living expenses, starting with a $377 Energy Relief Bill Payment.
The Gold Card was launched this year as part of the 2026-27 State Budget and recognises the invaluable contribution made by foster carers and grand carers while providing them meaningful support.
It is a clear demonstration of the Cook Labor Government's commitment to building safe and inclusive communities as we continue to put WA first.
Further concessions and supports delivered through the Gold Card will continue be rolled out across the coming year, all aimed at supporting families caring for the State's most vulnerable children and young people.
Eligible families who have not yet claimed their Foster and Grand Carer Gold Card can do so through the ServiceWA app.
More than one million Western Australian motorists have claimed their $100 Fuel Support Payment, which has paid more than $100 million to drivers, providing much needed relief at the bowser.
Furthermore, since launching in July, the Western Australian Student Assistance Payment has paid more than $63 million directly to WA families, helping to ease school and household expenses.
As stated by Child Protection Minister Jessica Stojkovski:
"I am pleased the first round of Gold Card payments are now reaching foster and family carer households across Western Australia, supporting them to continue their extraordinary work in our communities.
"I encourage all eligible foster families who haven't registered for their Gold Card yet to sign up and gain access to a wide variety of offers and benefits over the next twelve months, including the current Energy Bill Relief Payment.
"The Cook Labor Government wants as many foster families as possible to benefit from the Gold Card and the support it can provide with living expenses."
As stated by Community Services Minister Matthew Swinbourn:
"Grand carers deserve recognition and support for the vital part they play in keeping children safe and cared for, and that is exactly what the Gold Card is delivering to them this week.
"I strongly encourage all eligible grand carers in WA to claim their Gold Card through the ServiceWA app and access the latest energy relief payment for themselves and their families.
"I look forward to the year ahead as we continue to add discounts and benefits for some of our State's most selfless families providing care for children.
"If grand carers need assistance with the ServiceWA app, or are looking for an alternative way of applying, I encourage them to reach out to their local Member or Parliament to assist."
