Gold Coast Cops' All-Female Panel Precedes Women's Day

In honour of International Women's Day, occurring this Friday, the Queensland Police Service (QPS) hosted an all-female panel for the sold out QPS recruiting information seminar, held at Broadbeach PCYC on Monday, March 4.

Seminar presenters included Regional Recruiting Officer (RRO) Claire Puia-Prebble, District Crime Prevention Co-Ordinator Senior Constable Margaux O'Reilly and Youth Club Manager Sergeant Cherie McLean.

With over 35 years of police service between them, Senior Constable O'Reilly and Sergeant McLean spoke about their respective journeys and careers, as female officers.

They discussed the qualities women can bring to the workforce and shared their insights on balancing policing careers with busy personal lives.

Senior Constable Margaux O'Reilly drew comparisons between female attributes and those required within the service.

"Qualities such as empathy and intuition come naturally to most women along with being effective communicators," said Senior Constable O'Reilly.
