Do you have an idea that could make your community better?
If you enjoy working with others to make a difference in your local area, The Community Pitch might be for you!
The Community Pitch is a new community-led, Council-funded program that brings people together to identify opportunities that directly benefit the local area and gives them the skills and resources to bring their chosen project to life.
The program is aimed at building community connectedness and resilience and will deliver projects that meet an agreed community need.
The program will kick off in the Hills region from March to June 2026. The program will then be rolled out to all regions of Yarra Ranges, (Hills, Upper Yarra, Valley and Urban) over the next two years.
Participants will take part in a series of workshops, each one focused on building the necessary skills for the group to the take their project from the idea phase all the way to delivery. Council has committed $35,000 to fund the groups chosen project/s.
Mayor Richard Higgins said the program was a fantastic opportunity for community to come together and make a real difference.
"Nobody knows what a community needs to thrive more than the people that live and work there. We've seen first-hand what can be achieved when people come together with a shared purpose. This program will empower the community to identify opportunities, share their ideas and build the skills required to make meaningful, long-lasting change for their community."
"If you live in the Hills region and want to know more, come along to the information session. You can then choose to take part in future workshops, or just be involved as a supporter," Cr Higgins said.
