Government welcomes Tasmanian schools resuming class

Minister for Education Dan Tehan has welcomed today's announcement that school students in Tasmania would return to classroom learning.

"Today's announcement from the Tasmanian Government that students will return to classroom learning is great news for students, parents, teachers and principals," Mr Tehan said.

"We know that students get the best education in the classroom, learning from their teacher, especially vulnerable, low socio-economic, rural and remote, and Indigenous students.

"Our Government has taken a consistent position to follow the expert medical advice and the expert medical advice has been consistent that schools are safe for students and teachers with the right protocols in place.

"Tasmania has developed a plan that will see all year levels return to the classroom over the next month.

"Almost every state and territory government now has a plan to return to classroom learning that follows the expert medical advice and sets out sensible arrangements for students, teachers, parents and principals."
