Grandparents Day: Picnic and Movie Unite Generations

Grandparents Day Tile 2025

Hills residents are invited to celebrate their grandparents and grand-friends with a free and exclusive movie screening and a special picnic at John Benyon Rotary Park, Kenthurst.

On Thursday, 23 October, grandparents and grandchildren can unwind together with a free screening of Kangaroo at Event Cinemas Castle Towers, complete with complimentary snacks. The fun then continues on Saturday, 25 October with family fun, live entertainment, jazz performances, and delicious food at the Grandparents Day Picnic.

Mayor of The Hills Shire, Dr Michelle Byrne recognised the importance of celebrating the treasured contributions grandparents and seniors make to families and the community.

"These two fantastic events are a heartfelt way to say 'thank you' to our local grandparents for the invaluable role they play in our community, generously sharing their wisdom, knowledge, and experiences with younger generations," Mayor Byrne said.

"Our Grandparents Day movie screening and picnic provide two wonderful opportunities for families to spend quality time together and create long-lasting memories with their loved ones.

"Whether you're indulging in popcorn and choc tops at the movies or embracing the sunshine and snacks in the park, there's something fun for everyone this Grandparents Day."
