Grant programs to support vibrant arts sector

  • Culture and the arts grant programs opening today
  • Grants up to $60,000 available for one-off projects and programs of activity
  • Applications close August 20, 2020
  • Western Australia's artists, arts groups and organisations can apply for up to $60,000 in funding through the State Government's Arts 15k-plus and Contemporary Music Fund grant programs.

The Arts 15k-plus grant program supports one-off projects or a program of activities that promote participation and active engagement in high quality arts and cultural experiences.

In 2019, Arts 15k-plus supported a broad range of projects across the State. This included the presentation of the Fremantle Biennale and the Wara Art trail as part of the York Festival, to the development of Theatre Kimberley's circus arts collaboration for very remote Kimberley children.

The Contemporary Music Fund grant program assists home-grown contemporary music artists with projects that enable them to produce and promote their work across a range of activities.

The grant program is one of the initiatives of the $3 million Contemporary Music Fund election commitment. Since 2019 the program has supported local contemporary music acts such as Carla Geneve, Katy Steele, The Tommyhawks and Alison Flintoff.

Both grant programs invite applications between $15,000 and $60,000. Applications close August 20, 2020. The next round will open in September 2020.

The Arts 15k-plus and Contemporary Music Fund grant programs are administered through the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries. For more information, visit https://www.dlgsc.wa.gov.au/funding

As stated by Culture and the Arts Minister David Templeman:

"Culture and the arts play a vital role in a vibrant and diverse State, contributing to the social, cultural and economic growth of communities.

"With grants up to $60,000 available, these programs will provide a fantastic opportunity for our local artists and arts organisations.

"I am delighted to announce the opening of these grant programs and can't wait to see the successful projects come to fruition."
