Grants awarded for Youth Week activities

NT Government

Grants have been delivered throughout the Northern Territory this week to assist young people, community groups and organisations to provide a variety of drug and alcohol free recreational events, personal development and leadership programs for Youth Week.

Northern Territory Youth Week (NTYW) 2024 will be held in April and 29 grants have been awarded to provide valuable activities during the week of celebration.

NTYW is an annual event to empower and celebrate young Territorians aged 12-25, providing a platform for young people to cultivate a sense of identity and belonging along with strong cultural and community connections.

It promotes a positive view of young people and recognition of their skills, attributes and positive impact in their communities.

The grants have been distributed across the Top End, East Arnhem, Central and Big Rivers regions with work continuing in the Barkly to identify activities to fund and deliver for NTYW 2024.

The recently announced Youth Week Ambassadors will play a crucial role in the promotion of Youth Week activities to foster connections with young Territorians across the length and breadth of the Territory to be engaged and involved.

They model positive behaviours and consult, engage and collaborate to have more people actively participate in Youth Week activities.

Funded activities include inclusive games days for all abilities, music workshops and festivals, a free hairdressing program for Indigenous youth and those with disability or special needs, artistic workshops and resilience-building activities.
