Applications are open for the 2025-26 ACT Heritage Grants Program which help Canberrans conserve, promote and experience the rich history and heritage in our region.
Minister for Heritage Chris Steel said around $200,000 is available for individuals, community groups, and organisations to help conserve, protect and promote places and objects on the ACT Heritage Register, as well as Aboriginal cultural heritage.
"The ACT has a unique and diverse history, and we want to honour the important places and stories that have shaped our identity," Minister Steel said.
"Last year, 13 projects received funding which included restoration works, exhibitions, digitisation, publications, oral history workshops, publications, and conservation management plans. The recipients also each hosted an event in this year's Canberra and Region Heritage Festival.
"This year, we're focussed on projects related to the places and objects on the Heritage Register — and in finding new ways to share them with the Canberra community.
"These grants help keep the legacy of our city, and the people who contribute to it, alive and thriving for future generations."
Priorities for the 2025-26 round of the ACT Heritage Grants Program are:
- Conservation work projects
- Conservation Management Plans
- Community engagement projects
- Aboriginal heritage projects
"I encourage individuals and community groups with a passion for protecting and sharing Canberra's heritage to apply. These projects play a vital role in helping younger generations connect with and learn from our city's rich and diverse history," said Minister Steel.
