From today the Government has opened applications for the International Women's Day Small Grants Program 2020 to recognise the important role of women throughout Tasmania.

International Women's Day is an opportunity to celebrate the economic, political and social achievements of women, past, present and future.

The program provides small grants to support and build International Women's Day events across Tasmania.

Priority will be given to events that are:

  • Located in rural and regional areas of Tasmania;
  • Inclusive of the diversity of community members;
  • Community capacity building;
  • Educational; and
  • Collaborative.

International Women's Day was first proposed in 1910 at an International Women's Conference in Copenhagen.
