Greenacre crash leaves pedestrian with serious injuries

Police are appealing for public assistance as investigations continue into a crash where an elderly pedestrian was seriously injured in a hit-and-run in Sydney's south-west.

About 7.20pm on Tuesday 16 May 2023, emergency services were called to Wattle Street at Greenacre, following reports a pedestrian had been hit.

On arrival, officers attached to Bankstown Highway Patrol found a 72-year-old man had been hit by a white Hilux, which initially stopped at the crash scene, but left a short time later, failing to provide assistance to the injured man.

The man was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics, before being taken to Liverpool hospital in a critical condition with injuries to his lower limbs.

A crime scene was established, with officers from Bankstown Highway Patrol taking control of the investigation

As part of the investigation, police conducted an extensive canvass for any CCTV cameras which may have captured the incident of the vehicle involved in the crash.

Police have obtained vision of a white dual-cab Toyota Hilux, with a white hard top cover (tonneau), and chrome silver sports bar on the rear, with a chrome nudge bar.

The man has suffered extensive injuries to his pelvis requiring a number of surgeries.

Footage located by police show a number of other males in separate vehicles at the scene. Police wish to speak to these people as they believe they may be able to assist with the investigation.
