Greens Defend Workers Against Labor's Strict WorkCover Revisions

Australian Greens

The Victorian Greens will vote against Labor's WorkCover changes that will see injured workers denied support or kicked off the scheme.

Victorian Greens industrial relations spokesperson, Sam Hibbins, said the Greens wouldn't support a bill that screwed over Victorian workers.

He said by restricting coverage, Labor would prevent people from getting the help they needed to return to work.

The Greens say WorkCover reforms should be focused on better supporting injured workers and improving workplace practices, not rushing through legislation that pulls the rug out from underneath them.

As stated by Victorian Greens industrial relations spokesperson, Sam Hibbins MP:

"The Greens won't be supporting a bill that screws workers over.

"The Victorian Labor Government is acting like a heartless insurance company instead of a good government that helps people injured in the workplace, and prevents it in the first place.

"Public sector workers are at higher risk of mental injury in the workplace, and are already struggling from the government's cuts to thousands of jobs and harsh cap on wage rises.

"Labor's WorkCover changes will only make things worse."
