Grievous bodily harm charge, Surfers Paradise

Surfers Paradise detectives have charged a 19-year-old Toowoomba man with grievous bodily harm after two men were allegedly assaulted in the early hours of this morning.

It will be alleged two Oxenford men, aged 22 and 23 were walking along Orchid Avenue around 3.30am when they were both punched in the face by a man before he fled on foot.

It is understood the 22-year-old man sustained numerous broken teeth and lacerations to his mouth as well as a serious jaw injury. The 23-year-old sustained a possible broken nose.

It will be further alleged the trio had a brief interaction on the dance floor of a nearby nightclub prior to the assault.

Police located the man nearby and he was taken into custody without incident.

The 19-year-old appeared in the Southport Magistrates Court this morning charged with grievous bodily harm and assault occasioning bodily harm. He is due to re-appear in the same court on January 29, 2019.
