Grow Your Gardening Skills And Stay Connected

Orana Neighbourhood House is a welcoming and inclusive space in Wantirna South, where people come together to learn, connect, and support one another.

The house offers a wide range of health and wellbeing programs to support the Knox community including the Introduction to Horticulture class that meet on a Monday morning from 9.30am - 12pm. The class is led by Liz, an experienced horticulturalist who supports people to grow plants and vegetables with and for the community and learn skills like seed raising and espalier. The group also organises excursions to local nurseries and botanic gardens during term breaks.

Another program that is much loved is the Taking Strides walking group that meet on a Tuesday afternoon at 3.30pm. The relaxed walking group is an opportunity for people with limited mobility to come together and walk anywhere between 500m - 1km.

The House also offers a variety of other programs including mediation, mandala painting, women's peace retreats, men's chat groups and free education sessions on topics such as menopause, SES emergency planning, and financial planning.

They are proud to create opportunities for people to grow, learn, and feel a true sense of belonging-where you're always welcomed with a smile and a team who celebrates you simply for walking through the door.

Neighbourhood Houses welcome people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities and play a vital role in supporting Council's work to improve the health and wellbeing of the Knox community.

Knox City Council supports Orana Neighbourhood House through it running in a Council owned and maintained facility, and through funding provided through both the Community Development Fund, and Community Partnerships Fund grants streams.
