The Pharmacy Guild of Australia and the National Australian Pharmacy Students' Association have signed an agreement renewing their long-standing partnership for a further 12 months.
The agreement was signed during Pharmacy Connect in Sydney and continues the Guild's involvement as NAPSA's largest financial sponsor.
The National President of the Guild, Professor Trent Twomey, said the agreement was an important step in the Guild's relationship with the community pharmacists of the future.
"As a former President of NAPSA myself I know how important this relationship with the Guild is to the organisation and to students across Australia," Professor Twomey said.
"The financial support we give to NAPSA is one aspect but perhaps even more important is the strong connection and association with the pharmacists of tomorrow who are coming through pharmacy schools today.
"It keeps us connected to the students and the students connected to us. This agreement is the basis of a trusting and enduring partnership which the Guild values highly."
National President of NAPSA Flynn Swift, said that continuing the growth-fostering relationship with the Guild allowed pharmacy students, and the pharmacy profession as a whole, to feel supported "with entrusting us as the future pharmacists of Australia".
"With COVID-19 in the pharmacy scene, having the Guild show its continued support for NAPSA helps build confidence in our students to know we are represented properly in such a hard time.
"With that being said, pharmacy is only going to become more rewarding with the development of a pharmacist's scope of practice, and the continuous light on the pay rates.
"It's a great time to be a pharmacy student and we look forward to what the next 12 months has to offer with collaboration with the Guild."
