Strike Force Vulcan officers are investigating a bushfire that occurred about 6pm on Sunday 1 January 2023, in Hamersley.
The fire occurred in bushland surrounded by Erindale Road, Reid Highway, Wanneroo Road, Lennox Place, Blissett Way and Vickers Street.
The fire quickly consumed bushland and was an imminent threat to the ABC radio tower and grounds and threatened nearby homes before being brought under control by Department of Fire and Emergency Services. The cause of the fire is being treated as suspicious.
Strike Force Vulcan officers urge anyone who saw any suspicious activity, persons or vehicles in the area, or anyone who was travelling east on Reid Highway near the intersection of Erindale Road around 6pm on Sunday who has dash-cam vision of the area, to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or online at www.crimestopperswa.com.au
Rewards of up to $25,000 are available for information that leads to the identification and conviction of an arsonist.
