Western Australians are being encouraged to give their feedback and ideas on how the Swan River can be better utilised between the Narrows and Windan Bridges.
The draft Perth Water Precinct Plan will help guide future management and improvement of the precinct, its foreshores and development interface.
The Plan addresses foreshore protection, tourism opportunities, activation and recreation, public and private transport, and the cultural importance of the area while allowing enough flexibility for new opportunities or proposals to be explored.
The Plan was developed by the Parks and Wildlife Service at the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions in cooperation with the Cities of Perth and South Perth and the Town of Victoria Park; the Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage; the Department of Transport; the Metropolitan Redevelopment Authority; and Tourism Western Australia.
Parks and Wildlife Service engaged a diverse range of stakeholders including the Whadjuk community, tourism operators, residents and community groups in the area.

The community consultation period for the Plan will remain open until 5pm, October 23, 2019.
As stated by Environment Minister Stephen Dawson:
"The Perth Water Precinct is one of the city's greatest assets and is valued by both locals and visitors alike for its natural beauty, tourism opportunities, recreational pursuits and cultural values.
"This Plan will help guide future use of the area so I encourage everyone to have their say on what they think will help make the area even better and enjoyable by all.
"By having a shared vision, it will help coordinate decision-making and streamline approvals processes so we can inject even more vibrancy into the Perth Water precinct.
"This area of the Swan River has so much potential, but it is a journey that we need to all take together to try reach the best possible outcomes."
