Fire and Rescue NSW is planning to conduct a hazard reduction burn in Bolton Point on Friday 14 November between 9:30am and 5pm, weather permitting.
The Glen Mitchell HR is located in the Public Reserve at 3 Glen Mitchell Street, Bolton Point. The map is an indication of the general burn area, and the boundaries are not precise.
If weather conditions become unfavourable on the planned day, the hazard reduction burn will be rescheduled.
Safety precautions
As the prescribed burn will generate smoke, hot embers and heat, it is important that you consider the following:
- Keep doors and windows closed to prevent smoke entering homes
- Outdoor items such as furniture and trampolines should be either taken inside or covered. Where this is not practical, items should be hosed down regularly to prevent ember damage
- Retract pool covers to prevent ember damage
- Remove washing from clotheslines
- Ensure pets have a protected area
- If you are driving a vehicle, slow down, keep windows up and turn headlights on
- Obey the instructions of traffic controllers and emergency services
- Sightseers must keep away from burns for their own safety
- If you have asthma or a lung condition, reduce outdoor activities. If shortness of breath or coughing develops, take your reliever medicine or seek medical advice
- Never fly drones or Remote Piloted Aircraft near bush fires or hazard reduction burns. Penalties apply.
