We are looking for feedback to help us understand how our community facilities and services are being used now and how we can plan better for the future.
Community feedback will help guide a plan for improving our current facilities to meet a growing and ageing population within the Hampton Street Major Activity Centre.
Background
Like all of Melbourne, Hampton is growing and changing, with an expected 16,077 people calling Hampton home by 2036 compared with 13,954 persons in 2016.
As well as supporting an ageing population, Hampton is attracting more young people and young families. Our planning for the future needs to consider the increased demand for community facilities and services and evolving needs of different residents.
Council currently owns 13 properties in and around Hampton Street which accommodate a range of community services and facilities, including a Community Centre, Library, Playhouse, Senior Citizens Centre and Maternal and Child Health Centre.
Many of these buildings are ageing and have been designed for a specific purpose, so they have limited ability to be adapted to meet changing needs.
We want to develop a plan to create adaptable, contemporary spaces to house a range of community services in Hampton that can accommodate changing community needs
Next steps
Before we start to look at options for service delivery, we are seeking feedback on what community services and facilities our community values most.
