Dartmouth-based company pioneers new remote monitoring service for virus management

Canadians must feel secure returning to work, school and social activities during the global pandemic. That is why the Government of Canada is helping Rimot get its rapid, automated, contactless screening tool for indicators of COVID-19, called RimotHEALTH, on the marketplace.

Federal support for easy-to-use, affordable platform

Darren Fisher, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Health and Member of Parliament for Dartmouth - Cole Harbour, on behalf of the Honourable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Economic Development and Official Languages, today announced a repayable contribution of $904,267 to support the commercialization of RimotHEALTH.

Rimot's COVID-19 virus detection device is safer, faster and more cost-effective than manual screening, enabling businesses to keep their employers and customers safe and the economy running. This support will help Rimot to grow, enter new markets and hire highly skilled workers in data science, system design and market development.

The Government of Canada is commited to ensuring that citizens can confidently carry out their daily activities during the pandemic. This investment will help businesses safely operate and contribute to the Canadian economy during these challenging times.

• Established in 2016, Rimot is a start-up technology company that employs 14 people.

• RimotHEALTH monitors health questionaire responses and body temperatures to ensure workplaces can operate safely and productively.

• The technology is being used in Nova Scotia, in other parts of Canada, throughout the United States and overseas in Ireland and Scotland.

• The investment also supports the development of RimotSHIP, which will provide operational insights for commercial and military ships.

• RimotHEALTH and RimotSHIP join RimotRF, the company's initial remote monitoring service, to help businesses reduce costs and increase productivity. RimotRF is the first turnkey service to remotely monitor transmitter sites and equipment, including weather and lightning.
