A Hervey Bay couple were stunned to discover their Saturday Gold Lotto ticket was worth far more than the $1,086 they first thought, with a few extra zeros turning their weekend upside-down.

The Fraser Coast residents held one of the six division one winning entries nationally in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 4703, drawn Saturday 15 August 2026. Each entry scored $1,086,418.14.

"I've been tearing my hair out!" the winning husband laughed when we revealed the windfall.

"We've been waiting for your phone call all weekend!

"I looked at my ticket yesterday morning and received the biggest shock. I did think at first it was a $1,086 win but then I realised there were too many zeros. It's all very overwhelming.

"We've only told our children but we're not planning to tell anyone else at this stage.

"Thank you so much."

With the newfound fortune soon to hit their bank account, the retirees shared they couldn't wait to give their home a long-awaited makeover.

"Our house is now 23 years old and probably needs a bit of a revamp," he admitted.

"We will be spending some money on the house."

Their winning 36-game QuickPick was purchased at Beachside Marketplace, 430 The Esplanade, Torquay.

Beachside Marketplace owner Graham Sewell said he and his team were ecstatic to have sold their fifth division one win.

"It's absolutely fantastic! It's about time we sold another division one winning entry because the last time we sold one was in September 2017," he shared.

"We've been telling all of our customers about the major win and reminding them that you've got to be in it for a chance to win it!

"We hope our division one winner gets to relax and enjoy their winnings however makes them happy."
