Hi-Quality Licence Breach

Hi-Quality Quarry Products Pty Ltd, which operates a landfill at 570 Sunbury Rd, Bulla, will contribute $10,000 to a restorative justice project, has been issued with an adverse publicity order and will pay EPA Victoria's court costs after pleading guilty in the Broadmeadows Magistrate's Court to breaching its licence.

The case was brought after Hi-Quality began construction of a new cell to accept waste at the landfill before it had satisfied its licence conditions.

EPA granted Hi-Quality an operating licence with the express condition that it "not start constructing a new cell without written approval from the Authority" but construction went ahead without the required notice approval.

Hi-Quality will pay EPA's costs of $7,000, take out an adverse publicity order notice which requires them to announce the decision, and pay $10,000 to Hume City Council's Sunbury Community Arts and Culture Precinct Project.
