High Range Drink Driver Intercepted

A 43 year old international driver from Canada has been charged after being detected drink driving over 3 times the legal limit.

Police intercepted a Silver Suzuki Swift on the Tasman Highway at Cambridge last night after receiving a call from a member of the public that the driver was possibly driving under the influence.

Police located the vehicle and intercepted the 43 year old female driver who was found to be in Tasmania on holiday from Canada, driving on her international licence.

She was issued a roadside breath test, returning a positive alcohol reading and was conveyed to Bellerive Police Station for further testing.

After further breath analysis testing the female driver returned a reading of 0.163- more than 3 times the legal limit.

She was formally charged with driving a motor vehicle whilst exceeding the prescribed alcohol limit and had her licence disqualified for a period of 12 months.

Police would like to thank the member of the public who called this driver and her driving manner in.
