High-range PCA charge after crash - Riverina

A man has been charged with drink driving after a crash in the state's Riverina at the weekend.

Just before 10.30pm Saturday (11 December 2021), police were called to the Sturt Highway, at Borambola, 30km east of Wagga Wagga, following reports that a car was seen travelling on the wrong side of the road.

Officers attached to Riverina Traffic and Highway Patrol located a BMW after it had crashed into a railing and a tree near the intersection of Mundarlo Road.

The driver – a 49-year-old man – was not injured but allegedly returned a positive roadside breath test.

He was arrested and taken to Wagga Wagga Police Station where he returned a positive reading alleged to be 0.152.

The Borambola man was charged with high-range PCA and is due to appear in Wagga Wagga Local Court on Wednesday 16 February 2022.
