Historic Aggravated Armed Robbery - Cloverdale

Detectives from Cold Case Investigations are seeking public assistance in relation to a historic aggravated armed robbery incident that occurred in Cloverdale in 2000, which formed part of a series of robberies targeting Chicken Treat stores in the metropolitan area.

About 9.15pm, Wednesday 21 June 2000, two male suspects attended the carpark of a Chicken Treat on Abernethy Road in a white Holden Gemini sedan.

The two suspects entered the Chicken Treat store through the rear door threatening staff. Both suspects were armed with large knives and demanded a male staff member lay on the floor.

One of the suspects approached a female staff member with the knife pointed towards her in a threatening manner and demanded to know the location of the safe. The staff member complied with the demands by leading the suspect to the safe and opening it.

The suspect stole a quantity of cash from inside the safe.

His accomplice remained standing near the kitchen area, still armed with a knife. The first suspect demanded the female staff member lay on the ground and she complied, fearing for her safety.

Both suspects fled through the back door and were seen entering the white Holden Gemini (pictured). Nearby bystanders approached, causing the suspects to flee from the vehicle on foot.

Detectives from Cold Case Investigations have identified several similar incidents which formed part of an armed robberies series, likely committed by the same suspects between March and July of 2000.

All incidents occurred in the Perth Metropolitan area and targeted Chicken Treat stores around closing time, using threats directed towards staff members whilst armed with knives.

The first male suspect is described as being approximately 180cm tall, of slim build. He was wearing a black balaclava, red tracksuit pants and a green woollen jumper at the time.
