The University of Hong Kong (HKU)'s education subject has once again received outstanding recognition, ranking 5th globally and sustaining its position as 1st in Asia in the latest QS World University Rankings by Subject 2026 (Education and Training).
Professor Yang Rui, Dean of the Faculty of Education, expressed his appreciation for the concerted efforts of Faculty members. "We are honoured to be recognised as one of the top global leaders in education. This achievement reflects the Faculty's strength in delivering impactful research while also excelling in nurturing future educators," Professor Yang said.
With the growing importance of quality education in a rapidly changing world shaped by advances in technology, evolving learning needs, and shifting workforce demands, the Faculty is confident in its strong momentum and potential for continued growth. "Looking ahead, we will drive research-led initiatives forward, strengthen partnerships with schools and communities, and equip educators with the skills and mindsets needed to thrive. In doing so, we hope to contribute meaningfully to education locally and around the world," he added.
In addition to the impressive performance in Education, HKU also demonstrated notable progress in the subject "Library and Information Management", rising four places to 15th globally. This advancement highlights the Faculty's increasing competence and growing influence in the field on an international scale.
The HKU Faculty of Education is renowned for its exceptional teaching, pioneering research, and strong community engagement. The Faculty's global leadership in education is reflected in various world university rankings: world number one for "Education and Educational Research" in the Best Global Universities Subject Rankings by the U.S. News & World Report for three consecutive years; and 7th globally for "Education Studies" in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings by Subject 2026.
