The 28th Recognition Ceremony organised by the Centre of Development and Resources for Students (CEDARS) at The University of Hong Kong (HKU) was held on 26 April (Saturday) in Rayson Huang Theatre at HKU. The Ceremony aims to honour and celebrate the outstanding achievements and exemplary attitude of HKU's finest students from different backgrounds and to inspire the university community to learn from their dedication.
This year, three types of awards have been presented to 143 students who have excelled exceptionally in co-curricular achievements and endeavours as well as for those who have made outstanding contributions to the University and the community. Award categories range from (1) Achievement Award for Co-curricular Excellence; (2) Distinguished Service to the Community; and (3) CEDARS Service Awards.
Professor Peng Gong, HKU Vice-President and Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Academic Development), officiated at the Ceremony and extended his heartfelt congratulations to student awardees for their distinguished achievements and contributions to the HKU Community and beyond.
"The student awardees here today demonstrate their talent, leadership, and commitment to the community through personal pursuits and contributions from local to global levels. They strive for excellence in whole person development. Their outstanding achievements will build a solid foundation for challenges ahead, and empower them to be future leaders and innovators of Hong Kong and beyond," said Professor Gong.
Professor Samson Tse, Dean of Student Affairs, remarked: "The dedication and accomplishments of these award-winning students not only elevate their own potential but also inspire positive transformation within our campus community. I am exceptionally proud of their remarkable achievements. I hope all students can take them as role models, striving diligently to pursue their dreams. I wish all students success in their future studies and life journeys, and I encourage them to continue to unlock their full potential and create even more remarkable legacies."
