Hobart City Deal a stinker for Southern Tasmania

Shadow Roads and Infrastructure Minister David O'Byrne said that State and Federal Liberals' Hobart City Deal was going nowhere fast.

The Liberals have already missed their first deadline - to release the implementation plan for the Deal before 24 August, and with the four southern Councils yet to review the plan, this deadline will blow out even further.

"We know Scott Morrison has never taken the Hobart City Deal seriously, he made it clear during the Federal Election campaign that the Liberals put politics before what's best for Tasmania," Mr O'Byrne said.

"His Population, Cities and Urban Infrastructure Minister Alan Tudge couldn't even be bothered showing up to today's meeting in Hobart despite being in Launceston 24 hours earlier.

"Will Hodgman has a terrible track record of standing up to Liberal Prime Ministers and this is another bad result for Tasmania.

"There's no money to bust Hobart's congestion problem but Antarctica gets a big cash boost.

"After years of inaction by the Hodgman Government, there is no money for Macquarie Point.

"The Bridgewater Bridge has been delayed again after Infrastructure Australia gave the Liberals' business case a big fat fail.

"Will Hodgman should force his Liberal mates to release the detailed implementation plan today - and then get to work on a real deal that really benefits Tasmanians."
