Yesterday, Canada's Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Tim Hodgson, met with Poland's Minister of Energy, Miłosz Motyka in Warsaw, Poland, to discuss bilateral cooperation on energy security, Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) supply, nuclear energy development and offshore wind deployment.
Minister Hodgson welcomed the opportunity to engage with Minister Motyka, who oversees the implementation of the country's National Energy and Climate Plan for 2030 and 2040. The Ministers discussed Canada's potential role in strengthening Polish energy security and affirmed Canada's readiness to mobilize our nuclear expertise, industrial capacity and governmental support for Poland's second nuclear power plant.
Minister Hodgson reaffirmed that Canada continues to examine options to collaborate with European partners on energy security and flagged potential opportunities presented by several proposed LNG export projects in Canada. The Ministers also exchanged views on the joint development of offshore wind industry in Poland with Canadian industry, noting growing bilateral ties in this area and highlighting opportunities for collaboration in the second phase of Poland's offshore wind development.
The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to continue strengthening bilateral cooperation as both countries advance their respective energy transition and security priorities.
