Homes damaged in Oakden fire, South Australia

Police are investigating a suspicious fire at Oakden which caused damage to several homes early this morning.

About 3.15am Wednesday 17 April, police and fire crews were alerted to a grass fire burning in the grounds of a property on Grand Junction Road.

When crews arrived, they found the grass fire had spread and caused damage to the front and side fence of a home in Saltram Parade. Three occupants of the home were taken to hospital for possible smoke inhalation.

Brush fences and gardens of three other homes in Emmett Place were also damaged by the fire.

One home owner in Emmett Place was also taken to hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation.

Police believe that the fire was deliberately lit.
