Police have arrested a man as part of investigations into the shooting death of a man at Beenleigh overnight, 2 December.
Around 10.40pm, emergency services were called to Hugh Muntz Park following reports a man had been shot.
Officers attended where they located a 35-year-old Bahrs Scrub man with a wound to his chest, in the vicinity of Morrison Lane.
Officers and paramedics treated the man at the scene and a crime-scene was declared around 10.45pm.
The man was declared deceased shortly after.
Subsequent investigations identified a stolen white Kia Stonic sedan, bearing stolen registration plates, had left the scene shortly after the shooting.
Police sighted the vehicle at Kumbari Avenue, Labrador, and a Tyre Deflation Device (TDD) was successfully deployed on Jabiru Island.
The vehicle continued for a short distance before being abandoned at the intersection of Hope Island Road and Helensvale Road.
A man fled the vehicle on foot into nearby scrub.
Dog Squad officers conducted a sweep of the area and arrested a 22-year-old Beenleigh man shortly after, allegedly hiding underwater amongst the reeds near Saltwater Park.
A subsequent search of the man allegedly uncovered ammunition.
A firearm was also located discarded nearby.
A secondary crime-scene was declared on the vehicle.
Investigations continue.
