Honouring Those Who Give Back To Community

The Tamworth region will come together with a special celebration event this Saturday, honouring the invaluable contribution of volunteers across the community.

The event is being held as part of National Volunteer Week and recognises the dedication, generosity and positive impact of local volunteers who support countless organisations and initiatives within our community. It provides an opportunity to recognise the people who make a real difference every day right across the region.

There'll be plenty of fun, engaging activities and displays to suit all ages, a free sausage sizzle and local entertainment, as well as a variety of volunteer stalls, information and the chance to connect with the many groups and individuals who give back. It will also provide the opportunity to recognise and show appreciation for the wonderful volunteers throughout our community, with an Award Ceremony.

The Award ceremony will begin at 12pm and highlights groups and individuals that have volunteered their time willingly in the past 12 months, for a community group, legitimate not-for-profit organisation or other entity which engages volunteers in a safe and legal manner, such as schools or government agencies.

Tamworth Regional Council Volunteer Services Officer, Elissa Wesche, said National Volunteer Week is a wonderful opportunity to recognise the people who give their time, energy and passion to strengthen our community.

"This entire week is our chance to thank the incredible volunteers who make our community what it is. Their passion and generosity are inspiring," she said.

"The celebration will help to bring people together, whether that's connecting with local initiatives, enjoying a great day out with family, or taking a moment to celebrate the incredible impact our volunteers make every day.

"We encourage everyone to come along, get involved, and help us say thank you," she said.

The National Volunteer Week celebration will be held in Bicentennial Park on Saturday 23 May, from 10am to 2pm.
