Hooning Behaviour In Darwin

The Northern Territory Police Force has seized a vehicle following an alleged hooning incident on Mitchell Street in the Darwin CBD on Tuesday night.

While responding to an unrelated incident, Darwin General Duties officers observed a vehicle accelerate aggressively and lose traction, creating a significant risk to nearby road users and pedestrians.

Subsequent investigations, including the review of police CCTV systems, identified the offending vehicle driven by a 30-year-old male.

The vehicle was seized for 48 hours under anti-hooning legislation on Wednesday afternoon, with the owner liable for all associated towing and storage costs.

Superintendent Bradley Fox said, "The driver was also issued with a traffic infringement notice, making the exercise an increasingly expensive one, with the total cost of the driver's actions potentially rivalling the value of the vehicle itself."
