A NSW man's movie night took an unexpected turn after hesitation to answer a call from lotto officials about his winning share in the $5 million top prize in the Saturday Lotto draw. Nearly missing the life-changing news, he was happily engrossed in a Netflix movie.
The Harden local held one of the six division one winning entries nationally in Saturday Lotto draw 4455 on Saturday 30 March 2024 with each division one winning entry bagging $848,230.70.
“Wow! Are you serious!?” the man exclaimed when his prize was revealed.
“Oh my god! How good is that?
“I was just sitting here watching a movie on Netflix!
“I nearly didn’t answer the phone. But this was well worth interrupting the movie for.
“Each week, I put on a ticket. These are just random numbers that I’ve kept playing over the years.
“This has just floored me!
“It will certainly help bring forward retirement in the future!”
The man’s winning entry was purchased at Harden Newsagency, 26-30 Neill Street, Harden.
Harden Newsagency owners Simon and Dallas Watts said they were thrilled to see a division one prize land in their community.
“It has been over 20 years since we’ve had a division one winner!” Simon said.
“We will celebrate this great news with our customers, and it will certainly create a huge buzz in our small township.
“Small rural towns are suffering at the moment and this win will hopefully give the town a sense of luck.
“We wish our winner the best and hope the win will be very satisfying.”
The winning numbers in Saturday Lotto draw 4455 on 30 March 2024 were 44, 42, 43, 15, 12 and 9, while the supplementary numbers were 18 and 36.
Across Australia, there were six division one winning entries in Saturday Lotto draw 4455 – four in Victoria and one each in Queensland and New South Wales.
