Property Council NSW Deputy Executive Director Anita Hugo said calls for progress on the draft strategy and rezoning plans, set for public exhibition next month, were a centrepiece of the Property Council's Pre-Budget submission to the state government.
"This is great news for the Hunter and, while we're keen to see more details, the strategy is expected to unlock much-needed housing, thousands of jobs, an indoor stadium, extension of the light rail, and new parkland from Hamilton North to Broadmeadow," Ms Hugo said.
"The Hunter and Central Coast Development Corporation (HCCDC) is well placed to oversee the implementation and governance of the Hunter Park project, given their significant work and achievement in Newcastle's revitalisation, including the successful redevelopment of the Honeysuckle precinct.
Ms. Hugo said the project was one of the biggest planning moves ever seen in Newcastle and the Hunter, set to pave the way for growth and prosperity in the precinct and surrounds for decades.
"We look forward to contributing to the public consultation and to working with HCCDC, City of Newcastle and other stakeholders in the coming months and years, particularly during the formative stages of the precinct planning process," she said.
