The Hurstbridge Community Hub will be a hive of excitement on Sunday 30 August, with Council, community groups and local organisations joining together to deliver a fun-filled program as part of the annual Hurstbridge Wattle Festival.
Nillumbik Mayor Cr Naomi Joiner said "the Hub provides a place for people of all ages to gather, participate and build connections, and the festival is a fantastic chance for families and visitors to enjoy a great day out while discovering all the Hub has to offer."
The Hub is an integrated community, health and childcare centre located in the heart of Hurstbridge. Surrounded by a thriving community garden, parklands and the Diamond Creek Trail, the Hub provides a welcoming place for people to connect, learn, get active and contribute to community life.
There will be something for everyone during the festival at the Hub, including live music, family activities, community stalls, children's entertainment, food and opportunities to connect with local groups and services.
Festival-goers can enjoy live acoustic performances throughout the day, featuring local artists Jake Carlson, Dan Vogl, Joel Quinn, Rory Newman and The Squirrel Situation.
Families can take part in a treasure hunt, face painting, a mini-farm petting zoo, children's craft activities, sports activities and creative workshops, including wattle-themed crafts and Boomerang Bag decorating.
The Hub's community garden, library space and surrounding areas will also be activated, with activities including a quiet reading nook, sensory-friendly space, fairy bracelet making and demonstrations of the Magic Table (Tovertafel).
Local organisations and community groups will be on hand to share information, activities and services, including ECMS, healthAbility, BNLLEN, Dementia Friendly Alliance, St Andrews Primary School, Boomerang Bags, Plenty Valley FM and more.
Visitors can also enjoy food and refreshments throughout the day, including a community BBQ, coffee van and sweet treats.
The Hurstbridge Wattle Festival is a free community event, held on the last Sunday in August each year, the festival celebrates community spirit, creativity and the vibrant character that makes Hurstbridge a special place to live, work and visit.
