The Bellarine Link is one of the City of Greater Geelong's priority projects in the lead-up to the Victorian state election.
Mayor Stretch Kontelj OAM
The Bellarine Link has been one of Council's highest advocacy priorities for many years, so it's extremely encouraging to see the Liberal Party commit to delivering stage one of the project today. With both major parties now backing this important transport initiative, there is growing momentum behind a project that will make a real difference for our region, and Council will continue working to make sure these commitments are carried through.
Communities in Armstrong Creek, Charlemont and neighbouring growth areas have consistently called for better transport connections, and this investment would help meet that demand while supporting the region's continued growth.
Importantly, the first stage is only the beginning of a broader vision to establish a direct link between the Geelong Ring Road and the Bellarine Peninsula through future connections to both the Bellarine Highway and Portarlington Road. The priority after stage one will be securing planning work and progressing a business case for the remaining stages, giving residents and businesses confidence that the full project will be delivered.
Council welcomes all support for the Bellarine Link and will keep advocating strongly with all levels of government to ensure this transformative project remains on the agenda.
