Hydro set-up found after Mascot fire, NSW

Inquiries are underway after a hydroponic cannabis set-up was discovered after fire damaged a building at Mascot this morning, NSW Police say.

Emergency services were called to O’Riordan Street, Mascot, shortly before 4.15am (Monday 29 October 2018), and found the upper-level of an industrial building alight.

After the blaze was extinguished by Fire & Rescue NSW, a hydronic cannabis crop was found inside.

Officers from Botany Bay Police Area Command have established a crime scene and detectives are investigating.

No injuries have been reported to police and no occupants were inside the building.

Police have been told cars parked on the lower level of the building have sustained smoke and water damage.

Traffic was disrupted on O’Riordan Street for about two hours; however, all lanes re-opened shortly after 6.30am.
