Hydroponic cannabis located, man arrested, NSW

Police have arrested and charged a man after uncovering a hydroponic cannabis set-up at a business in the Lake Macquarie region, NSW Police say.

About 9.30am today (Thursday 9 November 2017), officers from the Lake Macquarie Target Action Group executed a search warrant on a business in Oakdale Road, Gateshead, locating a number of cannabis plants being grown hydroponically in three rooms.

A further 2.4kg of cannabis was located at the property.

The drugs have an estimated potential street value of $135,000.

A 55-year-old man was arrested and taken to Belmont Police Station where he was charged with cultivate prohibited plant, possess cannabis, and supply cannabis.

He was granted conditional bail to appear at Belmont Local Court on Wednesday 29 November 2017.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to the cultivation and supply of illicit drugs to call Crime Stoppers.
