ICAO Council President Reinforces Cooperation With Kuwait During High-level Visit

ICAO Council President Salvatore Sciacchitano, His Highness the Crown Prince of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, and Acting Kuwait Prime Minister Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef addressed the strategic importance of advancing civil aviation development and fostering international cooperation in bilateral meetings during Mr. Sciacchitano's recent mission to Kuwait.

The high-level meeting at Bayan Palace on 16 April 2025 also included:

  • Sheikh Abdullah Ali Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah, Deputy Minister, Minister of Defense and Acting Minister of Interior
  • Sheikh Humoud Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah, President of the Civil Aviation Authority
  • Retired Lieutenant General Jamal Mohammad Al-Theyab, Director of His Highness the Crown Prince's Office
  • Mazen Eissa Al-Eissa, Undersecretary for Foreign Affairs

During the meetings Kuwait reaffirmed its strong commitment to the development of international civil aviation and expressed support for enhanced collaboration with ICAO and other specialized organizations.

President Sciacchitano acknowledged Kuwait's leadership in advancing aviation infrastructure and the recent milestone achievement of the new Kuwait International Airport Terminal 2 and Cargo City. He emphasized the Organization's readiness to strengthen its engagement with Kuwait through increased visits, technical cooperation, and participation in global aviation forums.

The Council President, accompanied by ICAO's Middle East (MID) Regional Director Mr. Mohamed Farea, concluded the two-day mission with clear pathways for strengthened cooperation between ICAO and Kuwait.  This engagement supports ICAO's broader regional strategy to enhance aviation safety, security, and sustainability.
